There are many benefits of yoga that you can gain by practising. In short, if you are keen to achieve a healthier body and a more productive and positive outlook, yoga can help you. If this sounds sweat to you, you may like to read more.

* Overall Harmony

It is the ultimate goal of yoga to provide unity and harmony among the body, mind and spirit. In a way, this means you ultimately achieve oneness. This is the most important benefit of all. It is only through harmony that you can prevent one part of yourself from blocking the others. For example, your regular daily life will no longer be bothered by destructive thoughts or physical pain.

* Awareness

En route to harmony, yoga will teach you to become more aware. Sometimes, we experience pain, severe illness or damaging thoughts because we were unable to detect budding physical or emotional problems. Yoga will help you to detect if something is wrong or not right with you such as your posture or body alignment, for example.

* Taking Stress Away

The techniques in yoga can help relieve stress and tension in the mind and body. One is taught meditation, proper breathing, detachment from thoughts and feelings and concentration in the here and now. All these can help a person become calmer and develop a more positive perspective.

* Pain Management

One of the most celebrated benefits of yoga is the management of pain. This can be achieved through different means depending on your pain condition. Yoga in itself improves a person’s physical strength and alignment, which is crucial in reducing some types of pain such as muscle or back pain. For more serious pain conditions, yoga induces overall relaxation and even the release of natural pain relievers in the body. Advanced yoga practitioners who have intense chronic pain can even learn to detach themselves or view their pain from a different perspective through yoga.

* Body Strength and Flexibility

Yoga can help you move and endure better. Those who practise yoga gain improved range of motions and the ability to hold out longer in daily activities. This benefit is especially important for those who are usually stuck in rigid office positions that restrict posture and movement.

* Healing of the Body

Yoga has been known to have an impact on a wide range of diseases and their symptoms. Generally, yoga helps improve overall circulation and organ function which results in a cleaner, more nourished system. In particular, yoga has been proven to be beneficial for those who suffer from arthritis, asthma, high blood pressure and diabetes. Yoga has even been known to help combat obesity and premature aging.

The benefits of yoga are just too many to be ignored. If you want to improve your body, health and outlook in life, you should consider learning yoga now. It is simply the best way to heal and harmonize your entire self.

There are some common types of alternative medicine that people have been using for centuries. In some parts of the world they have been pushed aside in favor of modern medicine. However, in other places such as Japan and China they continue to be part of the every life. They also leave long and healthy lives which means it does offer plenty of benefits.

Not everyone puts stock into alternative medicine though. This is because a great deal of it hasn’t been approved by the FDA. This can be strange though when you consider all of the cost that goes into various types of trials for new medications. There are also quite a few side effects that come with those medications. With many forms of alternative medicine though you won’t have to worry about them.

You aren’t going to have trouble sleeping, feel nauseated, or feel anxious. Should you find a type of alternative medicine that works well for you then you are simply going to feel better than you have in a long time. That is good news for those who find it hard to swallow that their medication makes them feel worse that the ailment they are getting treatment for.

You may have to try several forms of alternative medicine though before you find the ones that work best for you. However, when you see a doctor he will likely have you try out various types of medications so it really isn’t any different. Yet you won’t be paying out money or suffering from an array of affects. With the cost of health care through the roof right now many people can’t afford it. Even with insurance taking medication daily can cut into your household budget too deeply.

Music therapy is a common type of alternative medicine. It is used to help relieve stress and to help people recover from traumatic events. The use of aromatherapy and reflexology can help to remove various forms of stress from your body. It can also relieve headaches and fatigue. Some individuals suffer a great deal from migraine headaches. Prescription medications can leave them feeling groggy. However, with alternative medicine they can get the relief they have been looking for.

There are a variety of foods and drinks you can consume to offer you benefits as well. Some of them are said to reduce your chances of getting various types of cancer. Others are to treat you when you have certain ailments. They work by removing the toxins from your body. Even if you can’t walk into a store locally to buy them you can order such items on the internet and have them delivered to your home.

If you are interested in alternative medicine you can find many books and websites on the subject. If you are skeptical about any of them working you can try them out. The worst case scenario is that you aren’t going to see any results. Yet you won’t know unless you try. Many people that never got results from modern medicine have found alternative medicine to provide them with relief. That information is certainly encouraging.

Acupressure is a form of massage therapy. It originated in China many years ago and is also used in Japan where it is called shiatsu. It was once used in Great Britain to treat headaches prior to the discovery of aspirin.

The theory of acupressure is based on the Chinese belief that all living things contain a vital energy, which is known as chi. Within the body are invisible paths called meridians that connect all the parts of our body. The chi flows along these paths. There are various points located on the paths, which can be stimulated to relieve pain. The points are named such as Large Intestine 4, Liver 3, and Stomach 36.

For example, Large Intestine 4 is a point located in the web of skin between the thumb and first finger. You can effect headache pain relief by applying pressure to and massaging this point in the direction of the index finger. But if the headache were a migraine, then you would apply the pressure to Colon 4 and Liver 3.

Liver 3 is located between the big toe and second toe in the back of the webbing. Massaging this point will also help relieve stress.

Unlike other massage therapies, acupressure uses no oils or equipment so it is simple to do. There are trained acupuncturists who administer acupressure but you can also learn to do it yourself. However, self-administered acupressure may not be as enjoyable as having someone else do it.

To perform acupressure, you use your thumb, finger or knuckle to apply pressure to a point. The pressure applied should be firm but not painful. The point should be massaged from five to fifteen minutes until the pain subsides. But be careful not to over-stimulate the point, as this will make the pain worse.

The challenge in self-administered acupressure is the correct location of the points. There are many books that have charts of the meridians and points together with complete directions. There are also charts available at various sites on the net.

However, these points are only.5mm in diameter so there isn’t much of a margin for error. If you are not feeling any benefit after applying the technique it is probably because you haven’t properly located the point. Therefore, you might want to schedule one or two visits to an acupuncturist to have them teach you the technique.

Acupressure has no significant side effects. The points may feel a little sore after a session and some people may experience a temporary feeling of lightheadedness.

Women who are pregnant should not use acupressure without the approval of their doctor. And even with a doctor’s approval, they should not self-administer but need to consult a trained acupuncturist. Some of the points are dangerous for pregnant women.

Acupressure should not be applied over any area that is bruised or swollen. It also shouldn’t be done over varicose veins.

People who have circulatory problems, osteoporosis, any type of bleeding disorder, a recent fracture or who are using blood thinning medication should only have acupressure administered by a qualified therapist.

Acupressure has been found to be helpful in treating nausea, motion sickness, headaches, muscle tension and stress.

Few subjects in health or diet ever get put to a final rest. Present studies often contradict earlier ones, until no one knows what to think. One of the few areas that almost all serious studies seem to agree on is the relationship between exercise and the immune system.

No reputable researcher will claim that exercise will repair a weakened or diseased immune system. Nonetheless, a broad spectrum of studies confirm that moderate exercise can help sustain and strengthen it, even when the effects are indirect.

The role of exercise in helping to lower stress – and the subsequent beneficial effects on health – has been widely studied. Here the studies are less clear, contradicting one another in some details. But overall the conclusion is the same: moderate, regular exercise helps the immune system by moderating the effects of stress.

Most studies carried out over the last 30 years agree: a continual high level of stress has a number harmful effects on overall health. People who experience high stress get more colds, suffer more digestive tract problems and have more frequent bouts of fatigue. Part of the latter is indirect, since it tends to lead to lowered amounts of restful sleep.

Regular exercise helps relieve stress. It does so directly, by providing an outlet for, and consuming much of, the nervous energy produced by stress. It also helps indirectly by shifting one’s focus away from the external factors producing the stress.

Exercise can help the cardiovascular system, which in turn improves blood flow, carries away toxins from muscles and organs, and helps keep the kidneys and endocrine system working well. It helps remove germs and circulate antibodies.

All those promote a healthy immune system by lessening the body’s susceptibility to disease, while increasing the robustness of the immune system itself.

Exercising increases the body temperature slightly. This, as anyone who has suffered from a cold knows, is the body’s natural response to colds, flu and other diseases. The increased temperature helps kill the infecting organisms.

A study at the University of Colorado, Boulder suggests that moderate exercise helps prevent colds as well. It showed that individuals are less likely to get sick after stressful situations when they had engaged in a regular program of moderate exercise. Those that began exercise only on the same day as the stressor didn’t enjoy those benefits.

The study was carried out on rats, but one of the reasons those mammals are used is the similarity in some systems, and their responses, to humans.

Exercise programs, undertaken consistently and correctly, help improve body image – that’s one of most individuals primary goals in making the effort, after all. That improved body image often leads to higher levels of confidence and relaxation in social situations. That in turn helps reduce stress and enhance the immune system.

Whether the effects are direct or indirect, exercising can help you support and enhance your immune system. That leads directly to better overall health.

Life is good, but for some people life could be better. This article will show the benefits of music therapy using binaural beats, that helps relieve stress and anxiety, to help make your day a little better.

Music therapy or binaural beats have been around for a long time, over 170 years. These beats use two different frequencies, one in each ear that helps stimulate the brain to help you relax. The beats are set into soft relaxing music often with sounds of nature such as birds chirping or waterfalls ect.

The benefits from the different frequencies, and the positive effects it has on the mind and body is good. There are four different frequency waves that are used in music therapy, and they are, Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta, and each one has it’s own benefit.

Delta waves which is 1-3 Hz, and the benefits are, if you are having trouble sleeping, it is also good for lucid dreaming, which can help you if you have constant nightmares, and it also helps increase immune functions.
Theta waves which is 4-7 Hz, and the benefits are, it’s good for deep relaxation or meditation, hypnosis, also to increase memory, and to help you focus better.
Alpha waves which is 8-13 Hz, and the benefits are, that it will help you with light relaxation (while awake), also helps with learning, and positive thinking.
Beta waves which is 13-25 Hz, and the benefits are, that it will help with normal state of alertness, busy or anxious thinking, active concentration, and relieves stress, and anxiety.

The biggest benefit is that you don’t have to go to a therapist to get this treatment, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. So many people have never heard of music therapy, or sound therapy, because of the fact that you had to go see a doctor, and get referred to a therapist who deals with these kinds of problems. Like always doctors don’t want people to know about these kinds of treatments that you can do at home, because they will lose money. You know how it works, they want you to see a therapist that they recommend so they get a commission, then once you see a therapist they want you to go and see them two or three times a week for a month, this can be very expensive, and inconvenient.

In conclusion, there is no reason that you can’t do this in the comfort of your own home. When you see a therapist they put you in a room by yourself with headphones and they make you listen to the music for a certain amount of time, and that’s it, and make you go back several more times. You can do the same thing at home, find a quiet place and put on some headphones, and just relax and listen to the music, and save yourself some money, it’s the same thing! If you would like more information on music therapy or binaural beats see link bellow.

Planning a vacation? Don’t forget to follow some simple steps to avoid unnecessary headaches and stress. Careful planning can help you make your well deserved vacation a lot more enjoyable.

Going on a vacation ought to be an opportunity to relax and yet in a lot of cases, it can be a stressful ritual. These tips are recommended to have a more enjoyable and less stressful getaway.

1. Plan first – This may be an obvious but often neglected step. Lack of preparation can cause more problems during and even after the trip, making it more stressful and less enjoyable for you and your companions. Think of what you want to do and what is possible in terms of time and budget.

There are several options of how to go on a vacation without having to spend excessively such as going during off seasons or even just swapping homes. Do the research. Choose a destination that is within your budget. See what there is to in the area and plan what activities you would like to do there. Do some comparison shopping to get the best hotel and transportation deals. Schedule your trip carefully to allow for some transition time before and after the trip if needed.

More importantly, inform friends and relatives of where you are going and how long you will gone so as not to get them worried if you cannot answer calls immediately. Ask if they could keep watch on your house while you are away. This will help keep your mind at ease during your trip, knowing your house is in safe hands.

2. Organize work before leaving – Let your boss or employees know the exact days you’ll be gone from work and give them enough time to get someone to cover essential jobs while you are gone. The same applies to clients and employees if you have a business.

Make sure you finish up work that needs to be done at the office before going away. Leaving your desk with less work on your mind will help you be able to enjoy your vacation more. As early as possible, ask your coworkers or supervisor about who could fill in for you while you are away. Inform them of their responsibilities, deadlines or other matters that they may need to be aware of.

Let your contacts and clients know who they can contact while you are gone. Do not overwork prior to leaving for your trip. Being exhausted limits the time to enjoy your vacation.

3. Prepare for the trip – Once you have gotten the details of your trip settled, allow enough time to prepare. Some prefer to ease back into their routine after the trip. If you are that type of person, it is recommended that the house be cleaned as well leaving extra money and food available prior to leaving. Plan to have some of the essentials ready for your return home. Organize the things you need to bring at least a week before leaving to allow for last minute arrangements if necessary.

4. Pack wisely – Keep in mind where you will be going and how long you will be gone. Bring the right clothing for the environment and season as well as medicines but try to pack as lightly as possible to avoid paying for additional baggage. This also avoids the stress of having to drag large, heavy bags around with you. If traveling with kids, it may be essential to pack games to keep them busy along the trip.

5. Be There Early – Plan for ample time to get to airports so you can relax a bit before you leave. Avoid having to rush to catch your ride as the exhaustion and stress caused by it will lessen the enjoyment of the trip.

6. Disengage from your cellphone, laptop or Blackberry – With today’s technology and responsibilities, this has become more difficult to avoid. If detaching yourself from your cellphone, laptop, Blackberry and other such electronics is impossible then restrict it as much as possible. This is your vacation. It is hard to relax having your coworkers or employees still calling you for every small detail. Ask them to call you only on important matters. If your work absolutely requires you to keep in touch, schedule such meetings so that both sides will be prepared beforehand. More importantly, make sure that you will be able to use your devices during your trip without worries.

7. Enjoy the moment – Although you have an idea of what activities are possible, do not do them all in one day. Allow enough time for each activity. Trying to do too much in a short amount of time will only increase your stress level during your vacation. Allocate some time to enjoy the view.

8. Rest – As this is a vacation, you need adequate amounts of rest and relaxation. It is recommended that adequate time be given to sleeping, relaxing in terms of taking long walks and enjoying the view as well as pampering yourself by having a massage.

9. Take lots of pictures – It may not seem important during the trip but this will be helpful. Keeping a memory of what happened during the trip might help relieve stress during the transition period. This also becomes a vantage point for future planning of trips.

10. Transition period – Depending on the type of person you are, some people prefer easing back into work. If this is the type of person you are, return at least a day before coming back to work. Another suggestion is scheduling the first two days after coming back as a period of transition, where you relax a little longer and avoid heavy tasks. Do not schedule any major meeting immediately after coming back from your vacation. Jumping straight back in to work might induce stress for some people, making the purpose of the vacation useless.

Reflexology is an alternative medicine practice that is based on the principles that every organ system on the body can be mapped to a zone or area of the foot (or the hand). For this reason reflexology used to be called zone therapy and in some places it is still called that. Those that practice reflexology apply pressures to these zones on the foot or hand to apparently relieve stress and tension, get rid of toxins in the body and improve circulation, among other things. They also promote the application of pressure to the zones by the use of a foot massage to promote healing and normal function of the part of the body that is related to that zone. They also claim that disorders of different organ systems can be diagnosed through these zones on the foot.

No scientific study has yet been able to experimentally show the existence of anything physiological or otherwise to link zones on the foot to the different organ systems as claimed. A number of clinical trials have been carried out to determine if reflexology works or not. Some studies have shown benefits and other studies have shown that there is no benefit. When all these studies are combined to do what is called a meta-analysis or systematic review, the conclusion of the two most recent of them show that reflexology does not work.

The research evidence is clear that reflexology as an alternative medicine technique does not work and is not helpful. The theoretical rationale of reflexology also has no scientific support. This does not rule out that a good foot massage does not have helpful outcomes in those with a disease. A good foot massage is relaxing and this will help relieve stress in most people, especially those who are not well.

Organic scented candles are the latest craze! They help improve the mood whether you want to go hot and sexy, relaxed and content, or just plain happy. These candles are available in various scents and colours that will surely match your emotions. No wonder, many people buy and use them at home for both their health and decorative values.
The use of organic candles in aromatherapy is very common and effective. In fact, many spas and massage centres use them to make customers feel relaxed and good about themselves. At home, you can use them to light your room or just to fill the whole place with their therapeutic scents.

So what makes these organic scented candles different from those traditional ones? What make them the better choice? Here is some vital information on these popular products:

For starters, they contain organic components like natural vegetable wax and pure essential oils from plants

They have natural aroma as well, since they contain extracts of flowers like lavender, chamomile, rose, and many more

They can light up and keep the room sweet smelling for as long as 72 hours

They don’t emit black smoke, which can irritate the nasal cavity

They don’t release toxins that can trigger asthma attacks and other respiratory ailments

They are ideal for everybody, even for those who have sinus problem

They have a therapeutic effect to the body

If you still haven’t tried using these candles, here’s how they can improve that mood:

They can make you feel relaxed by relieving stress

Have you noticed why many people always have a stock of scented candles at home? It’s because they can help relieve stress. Lighting a scented candle before going to bed can help you sleep soundly and longer during the night. By the time you wake up, you’ll feel energised.

They provide long lasting fragrance

Unlike with using air fresheners, scented candles can fill the air with sweet scents without the harmful effects to people and the environment. They have a natural aroma that can last for a long time. Air fresheners only provide fragrance for a short period of time. Once it evaporates, the scent also fades. With organic candles, the scent stays for a long time, even if the candle has burned out. They also absorb unpleasant odours and keep the room fresh.

They also serve as aphrodisiacs

The natural scent emitted by organic candles can awaken the senses. They are natural aphrodisiacs that can set the mood for all that action. Having a candle lit dinner and using them to light up the room afterwards is also very romantic. Together with the right music, it can set the mood for all that loving.

Organic scented candles are indeed your best choice. They are available in various shapes, sizes, colours, and scents. They’re definitely better than using commercial candles since they’re good for your health and likewise, friendly to the environment.
