How To Relieve Stress Through Quiet Pursuits
Article by Theresa Skaggs
The number of reasons why we may face stress throughout our lives is nearly infinite. Some individuals can attribute their stress to the never-ending responsibilities of house and home. For others, work is a big source of stress, particularly in the current economic environment that often requires one person to take on extra work for less compensation. Unfortunately, some people find themselves in situations where the stress keeps piling up day after day, almost to the point where we don’t think there’s much we can do about it.
If you are under stress, there are a number of things you can do to handle it effectively. A great idea is to set aside some quiet time to spend.
You may be thinking that your schedule is too full to take a break but downtime will actually make you work faster and be more productive. How can this possibly be?
Stress affects the body in an unusual way. Stress, by its very nature, is not always a negative thing. In fact, the human body was built to handle it and to use it in order to help us get the important things in life done.
But when stress permeates our lives and becomes overwhelming, we wind up accomplishing less instead of more. For this reason getting a little “me” time can really lessen stress levels and help you to be more productive during the day.
The amount of time really doesn’t matter, it’s just a good idea to get even a little “me” time everyday. If you have a stress-filled job, you might find that sitting down two or three times a day with your eyes closed can really end up saving you a lot of time overall. Even short breaks that last only a few minutes can revitalize you enough to help you face the rest of the day and get back to work with a more refreshed and positive attitude.
